The female protagonist in the story unlike thoer female protagonists in many fairytale-like fantasy films because she understands who she is and takes charge of her life. This film is different from other films in that it is a family film but operates on a deeper mythological level. The themes in the film include: facing your fears; following your destiny; and letting go of the past. The music of the film also underscores the relationships and themes of the story. Ultimately the film leaves audiences feeling empowered and hopeful.
What do you think an audience would find most interesting about your script? What do you think “the hook” is?
There are many hooks to this project. The love story between Ichiro and Misaki. The coming of age of Kumiko. The King’s redemption though his heroic fight to save his kingdom from its enemies. Structurally, the competely unique fantasy world, the inclusion of magic and ghosts, the music, and the twists at the ending are also enticing. Ultimately the heart of the film is what audiences will be drawn to.
